Amid Global Demand for Forensic-Grade Deepfake Detection, Sensity AI Raises $2.1m
Sensity AI has announced the closure of a $2.1m funding round, led by Auriga Cyber Ventures with participation from Betaworks Ventures and a group of European angels including Stijn Christiaens (founder of Collibra AI), Grégoire Lepoutre and Adrien Gendre (founders of Vade Secure), and Giovanni Pepe (Uber).
This injection brings the total capital raised to date to $3.2m and concludes a year in which we tripled revenue, reached profitability, and achieved an outstanding capital efficiency ratio above 1.5x, demonstrating sustainable growth. The goal for 2026 is to cross $4m ARR.
Sensity AI remains selective about fundraising, with founders Giorgio Patrini and Francesco Cavalli choosing to work with investors committed to our long-term mission of building forensic-grade deepfake detection for AI-generated images, video, and audio.
At its inception in 2018, Sensity AI predicted the need for specialist forensic tools for synthetic media, but it wasn’t until 2025 that the second wave of gen-AI truly democratized ultra-realistic deepfake creation, prompting governments, enterprises, and institutions across every sector to urgently seek solutions for detecting malicious applications of the technology.
Now, armed with over eight years’ of practical expertise in deepfake detection and multimedia forensics, we are serving clients on four continents, and Sensity AI is embedded in the forensic ecosystems of defense agencies and law enforcement, as well as banks and insurers.
2026 marks the year trust in reality is undermined
“Reality has now caught up with the problem we’ve been building for since day one,” said Francesco Cavalli, co-founder, COO, and Head of Threat Intelligence.
“In the last 12 months we’ve seen a second, much more dangerous, wave of gen-AI. Now anyone, not just engineers or researchers, can generate convincing fake videos, images, and audio in seconds. Manipulation is scaling faster than verification and trust itself is becoming a vulnerability. Sensity AI is built to help survive that wave and the waves that follow.”
On reaching profitability, Giorgio Patrini, co-founder and CEO, said: “In 2025, we grew more than ever before by winning tenders, public and private, against companies that raised tens of millions in venture capital and had far bigger balance sheets. The reason for this is that our technology works and delivers value in real forensic conditions.”
“As one customer who trialled an alternative told us, candidly: ‘I thought [competitor] was the best because they raised a shitload of money, but their accuracy was around 60%.’ Sensity AI has an accuracy of 98% tested on publicly available datasets and in environments where decisions carry legal, financial, or national-security consequences, performance matters.”
Performance and impact is critical to forensic use cases. The value of a solution is not just in accurately detecting deepfakes—it is in enabling investigators to act faster, protect victims sooner, and convert the high volume of complex AI-driven crimes into cases that can actually be proven, and evidence that can be explained in a court of law.
Investigative units are increasingly confronted with crimes where synthetic media is not incidental, but central: deception is the aim. In these cases, speed matters as much as accuracy as every hour spent validating manipulated content is an hour lost for victim protection or threat mitigation.
Forensic tools for systematic, scalable detection of deepfakes
For forensic investigators and intelligence analysts, legacy image, video, and audio forensic software has been outcompeted by the rapid advancements in AI-generated content. We will soon be at the point where even trained professionals can no longer distinguish between genuine and manipulated media, and we have already passed the point where the volumes of suspicious media are manageable by humans alone.
Sensity AI is already enabling investigative teams to move from ad-hoc analysis to systematic, scalable detection of AI-generated deepfakes. Incoming images, videos, and audio files are screened automatically using multi-layer analysis, allowing investigators to focus their attention where manipulation is most likely and most harmful.
By combining deep learning with classical image, video, and audio forensics, Sensity AI is grounding deepfake detection inside threat intelligence rather than treating it as an isolated technical problem.
With disinformation becoming industrialized and synthetic media an essential tool to deliberately deceive, influence, and defraud at scale, forensic investigators need to authenticate reality in near real-time, and that requires purpose-built solutions optimized for performance and impact.
